Watering your Garden in The Summer

I know it's been raining, and we are all asking where summer has gone. The weather is supposed to improve a good deal soon, though. July and August are typically the hottest months of the year of course, so it's crucial to keep your plants well-hydrated during this time. Plants such as camellias, roses, and sunflowers often require additional watering in late summer as their flower buds form. If you're growing salad crops, tomatoes and courgettes, you'll need to keep them well watered.

For the best results, water your plants either early in the morning or late at night, avoiding the peak heat of the day. Ensure they receive a thorough soaking for at least 20 seconds.

If you're planning a holiday in August, consider asking a friend, family member, or neighbour to water your garden every couple of days. Be sure to give your plants a good soaking before you leave; this is especially important for anything you grow in pots.

Pressure Washer Boost

However, in most years, when we get a long dry spell, hosepipe bans are often put in place, so it's important to adhere to these restrictions when watering your garden. Always try to use water sparingly, especially during dry months—lawns, in particular, usually recover when the autumn rains arrive.
Our range of electric pressure washers conserve water a great deal and uses fewer litres per minute than a standard garden hose. They can also be used as boosters for your garden hose, controlling the flow and giving you greater reach with a flared jet so you can water your garden without tramping over it.

Additionally, consider installing a water butt to collect rainwater from your house's gutter system. This allows you to reuse as much rainwater as possible, and summer is an excellent time to set one up in preparation for autumn rains.
