How Does a Salt Spreader Work?
The simple genius of a manual salt spreader is a fantastic thing. You are fully prepared once you have loaded your salt into the hopper (the large container that makes up most of the machine). You start walking; the wheels turn the axle as you push the spreader. This movement drives the spinning plate - a rotating disc or spinner at the base of the hopper - which flings the material outward in a controlled pattern.
Controlling the amount of salt that flows through is vital, of course, and all three of our models have an adjustable flow control that means smooth, even coverage over the area that you want to keep clear of ice and snow. What Size Salt Spreader Do I Need?
It really only depends on the area that you need to cover and, to a lesser extent, the amount of salt that you want to spread within that area. The flow rate is easy to adjust, and they come complete with an elasticated cover to protect from rain and your salt from hopping out of the hopper!
