The world gets more and more removed from what we knew to be the norm. But that's the nature of life hey? Working from home was certainly a shift and has changed businesses and lives, but what about when a bit of home comes to the office?
What could be more homely than having a pet around the place? While ParkerBrand does look like Noah's ark, we have a dog-friendly office, and it's definitely a good thing.
Why is it Good to Have a Pet About?
There has been quite a discussion on this topic on various forums, such as Reddit with some people thinking that dogs don't belong in a corporate environment (ParkerBrand are still a family firm, so that's not us!) and others firmly in the yes camp.
For sure, interaction with dogs can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and promote relaxation. People tend to feel happier and more relaxed, which enhances their overall well-being. But we aren't at work to chill! We are working hard to bring you new products and give genuine, great service. However, it is understood that regular interaction with pets can help employees take short, meaningful breaks. When they return to work, these mental pauses can lead to new ideas, better focus, and more innovative problem-solving. And that's where we really see the benefit!

Dogs, in particular, have a unique ability to foster camaraderie. They often serve as a conversation starter that isn't about work. Our own TJ is a prime example of this. He's always ready to announce his presence with plenty of tail wagging and a desire for a stroke. He's not just a pet left at home, feeling dejected and lost - he's part of the team in his own unique way. As a cat lover, having such a sentiment about a dog is a first!
Pets at work are a good thing. They bring a closer integration between home and what we love at work and improve the atmosphere in a positive way. Right now, I'm off to collect my emotional support animal—a pony called Rex. I'm sure that'll be fine. What's a haybale between colleagues?
